Western New England University announced the appointment of three new faculty members in the University’s College of Pharmacy:
• Shusen Sun was named Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. A clinical pharmacist at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, Sun has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy as well as a pharmacy practice preceptor at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He holds a bachelor’s degree in polymer science from the University of Science and Technology of China, master’s degrees from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vanderbilt University, and a doctor of Pharmacy from Creighton University; and
• Kimberly Van Wyk was named Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. She joins Western New England University from Idaho State University, where she recently completed a two-year pharmacotherapy residency. A board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, Van Wyk holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Carroll College and a doctor of Pharmacy from Idaho State University.

• Susan Pepin-Phillips has been elected Vice President of Marketing. She joined FSB in September 1999. She is a graduate of Westfield State College. Active in the community, Pepin-Phillips is vice-chair of the Easthampton Development and Industrial Commission (EDIC) and co-coordinator of the EDIC Easthampton Town Clean-Up Day Committee and the EDIC Easthampton Beautification Committee. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Ella Clark Home and a member of the Easthampton’s Local Works Committee;
• Shelley Daughdrill has been elected Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager. She joined FSB in December 2005. She is a graduate of Westfield State College and the New England School for Financial Studies at Babson College. • Michele Lawrence-Bennett has been elected Assistant Vice President/Security Officer. She joined FSB in August 2007. She is a graduate of Westfield State College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English. She is a volunteer for the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society and Highland Valley Elder Services;
• Sharon Malouin has been elected Audit Officer. She joined FSB in September 1993. She is a graduate of Westfield State College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She is a STEP member for the White Brook Middle School and a PTO member for the Easthampton Elementary Schools; and
• Robert Teto has been elected Virtual Branch Manager. He joined FSB in June 2002. He graduated from UMass, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Teto is a recipient of the 2008 FSB President’s Club Award for Outstanding Customer Service. He is a member of Northampton Area Young Professionals.

Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Berkshire Bank, based in Pittsfield, announced the following:
• J. Williar Dunlaevy has been named a Director. He previously served as Chairman and CEO of Legacy Bancorp Inc., and Legacy Banks;
• Barton Raser has been named a Director. Raser is Vice President and co-owner of Carr Hardware and Supply Co.;
• Corydon Thurston, who has served as a Director of Berkshire Hills Bancorp since its formation in 2001 and as a Director of Berkshire Bank since 1988, has retired from the Board; and
• Patrick Sullivan has been appointed as Berkshire’s Executive Vice President of Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. Sullivan was most recently President and CEO of Legacy Banks.
These appointments result from Berkshires acquisition of Legacy Bancorp Inc., which was completed on July 21.

Keith Hensley, Executive Director of Workforce and Economic Development at Holyoke Community College, was re-elected as Chairman of the National Assoc. of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) Board of Directors. NAWDP is a membership association based in Washington, D.C., with more than 4,000 members from the national workforce system. Hensley has been the regionally elected New England representative to the NAWDP Board of Directors since 2002, and has served on its certification, professional development, and executive committees.

Bob Nicholson has been named Operations Manager at Cowls Building Supply in North Amherst. He will take on some of the responsibilities of eighth-generation Cowls family member Gert Como, who intends to retire soon. Nicholson, who has 35 years in the lumber business, will be charged with developing a higher level of resource management in the family-owned business.

Dr. Michael Bailin has been appointed Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Bailin is board-certified in anesthesiology and is also a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In his new role, he joins Springfield Anesthesia Service, which provides professional anesthesia services for Baystate. He will also work with the Heart and Vascular and Surgical departments as Baystate prepares to open its Hospital of the Future in 2012.

• Mary Cruickshank has been appointed Online Content Manager. In this position, she will oversee the station’s new media operations. Cruickshank brings many years of experience in marketing and Internet site management to WGGB;
• Karlene Ball has been named Creative Services Director. She comes to WGGB from WFTS-ABC Action News in Tampa, where she was promotions manager. Ball has more than 10 years experience in television; and
• has been promoted to Local Sales Manager. She has been with WGGB for eight years.
