SUMMARY:DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Opens 2025 Season at Lebanon Valley
DESCRIPTION:WEST LEBANON\, NY (April 16\, 2025) – An 18-year wait ends this weekend. The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series returns to Lebanon Valley Speedway for its first race of the season on Saturday\, April 19. \nDrivers will battle in a 50-lap Feature\, paying $ 5\,000 to win\, in the first visit to the track since 2007. \nThe DIRTcar Sportsman Series East Region\, DIRTcar Pro Stocks\, Limited Sportsman\, Street Stocks\, and 4-Cylinders are also on the card. \nFor more on the DIRTcar Northeast\, follow the DIRTcar Facebook page and the Series’ X/(Twitter) page. \nHere are the storylines to watch at Lebanon Valley: \nFirst Time Since 2007: Saturday’s race is the first time in 18 years the Series will battle at the “Valley of Speed” since 2007 when Kenny Tremont scored the victory during the track’s Kings 200 weekend. \nThe only two drivers in that field projected to race this weekend are last year’s Series runner-up Lance Willix and defending Big Block Modified and 358 track champion Andy Bachetti. \nWillix has made two starts at Lebanon Valley but hasn’t been to the track since that 2007 event. The Theresa\, NY driver has two Series wins\, his most recent one coming at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park last year. \nBachetti\, meanwhile\, has gone on to have a storied career at the track in 358 Modifieds and Big Block Modifieds\, collecting 18 track titles and 127 wins between the two divisions. Of those victories are four of his five with the Super DIRTcar Series. \nHollywood Momentum: Defending Series champion Felix Roy gained the upper hand against a few of his DIRTcar 358 Modified Series rivals last weekend by scoring a win during Airborne Park Speedway’s season opener. \nHowever\, Saturday will be the first time the Napierville\, QC driver competes in a 358 Modified at Lebanon Valley. “Hollywood” has made two Super DIRTcar Series starts at the 5/8-mile track\, finishing 15th and 23rd. \nDespite winning the championship last season\, Roy is still searching for his first Series victory. \nChampionship Contenders: Along with Willix and Roy\, there are several significant names aiming to take the 2025 DIRTcar 358 Modified Series crown\, including two Super DIRTcar Series stars. \nMat Williamson\, the 2023 champion\, and Mike Mahaney will be in action Saturday at Lebanon Valley\, but it’ll be their first time competing in a 358 Modified at the track. However\, they do have laps with the Super DIRTcar Series there. \nWilliamson has collected three top five finishes and four top 10s in seven Super DIRTcar Series starts at the track. A win this weekend would be his seventh 358 Modified Series win. \nMahaney has collected a couple of podium finishes with the Super DIRTcar Series at Lebanon – a third in 2018 and a second-place finish in 2023. “Smooth Shoe” is searching for his second DIRTcar 358 Modified Series victory after winning during Malta Massive Weekend at Albany-Saratoga Speedway last Fall. \nHome at the High Banks: Bachetti isn’t the only track regular that Series drivers will contend with this weekend. Joey Coppola\, Kyle Sheldon\, and Brett Haas\, who finished behind Bachetti in the battle for the track championship last season\, will also be on the hunt for the victory. Outdoor activities include : a Historical Ice Harvest on Nashawannuck Pond featuring historian Dennis Picard. Participants can try their hands at using a pond saw to “harvest” blocks of ice as they learn about Easthampton’s important role in the area’s ice industry. Other outdoor activities include a nature walk at Arcadia\, Clay HIll Farm draft horse wagon rides\, a community fire by the pond\, and Bumble will be there for photo ops. Easthampton Fire Department will be having a Polar Plunge for the second year! \nIndoor activities at Keystone Mill 122 Pleasant St. include: Vendor/artisan/craft Fair\, Ed Popielarczyk magician\, Tom Knight puppeteer\, Meet and greet Gino the Easthampton Police Dept K9\, Family Jungle Entertainment. Easthampton Library\, Valley Art Supplies\, Council on Aging\, Arcadia and Easthampton Skate are having activities. Easthampton Feed is joining us with a new event “Cuddle a Cow!” \nAbandoned Building Brewery will be hosting The 1 Man Party trivia / DJ on Saturday 2/1\, a night of Bingo Thursday 2/7\, our chili tasting Friday 2/8 and as well as WinterFest After Dark with live music Saturday 2/9.

Beginning Wednesday\, December 4\, 2024\, WRRS 104.3 LPFM will start broadcasting the Lord of the Rings trilogy\, read by our long-time radio reader\, Dan Cook. Dan has been a part of the WRRS 104.3 LPFM volunteer team since the fall of 2017\, initially reading the Berkshire Eagle. Recently\, he expanded his repertoire to include fantasy books for the Berkshire Talking Chronicle’s Summer Reading Program for Kids. \nDan first read The Hobbit and then traveled back in time to explore the 19th-century series The Princess and the Goblin\, written by George MacDonald. Many fans of the Lord of the Rings series believe that MacDonald’s work inspired Tolkien to write both The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. \nNow\, we are fortunate to embark on a comprehensive journey through the Lord of the Rings series with Dan\, who will provide his best and longest reading to date. Each Wednesday at 3:30 PM\, we invite everyone to pause their activities\, grab a snack and a beverage\, and listen to one of the greatest fantasy series ever written. We hope everyone enjoys this opportunity to relax and participate in the Berkshire Talking Chronicle’s fantasy story hour\, one of the many programs offered by BTC for our listeners. \nThe mission of WRRS 104.3 LPFM is to create an engaging radio experience that fosters inclusion for the sight and print impaired. Prepare for an extra special treat as the Berkshire’s very own children’s author Becky Cushing Gop will also be here to delight us with a reading of her book “What Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond.” Don’t miss out on this enchanting event! \n​What Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond? takes kids ages 8 to 10 on a journey through a year in the life of a young beaver (called a “kit”). This is an exciting year as the young beaver leaves her family lodge and moves throughout the Yokun Brook waterways\, seeking a new home for herself. Throughout the seasons\, vibrant illustrations and descriptions reveal the hidden inner workings of a beaver lodge\, how beavers fell trees with their teeth and create a wetland habitat\, how they collect food and ward off predators\, and what daily life is like within a beaver colony. Author Becky Cushing Gop is an environmental educator and director of Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary where the story takes place.
