SUMMARY:BERKSHIRE TALKING CHRONICLE FEATURES THE LORD THE RINGS TRILOGY
DESCRIPTION:WHO: WRRS 104.3 and UCP of WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS BEGINS A NEW FANTASY SERIES \nWHAT: THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY\nWHEN: WEDNESDAYS\, DECEMBER 4TH\, 2024 FROM 3:30 – 4:30PM. \nWHY: BECAUSE THERE’S NOTHING LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS \nHOW: TUNE INTO 104.3 LPFM AT 3:30PM – SIT BACK\, RELAX AND ENJOY. \nWRRS is excited to announce a wonderful new series! Beginning Wednesday\, December 4\, 2024\, WRRS 104.3 LPFM will start broadcasting the Lord of the Rings trilogy\, read by our long-time radio reader\, Dan Cook. Dan has been a part of the WRRS 104.3 LPFM volunteer team since the fall of 2017\, initially reading the Berkshire Eagle. Recently\, he expanded his repertoire to include fantasy books for the Berkshire Talking Chronicle’s Summer Reading Program for Kids. \nDan first read The Hobbit and then traveled back in time to explore the 19th-century series The Princess and the Goblin\, written by George MacDonald. Many fans of the Lord of the Rings series believe that MacDonald’s work inspired Tolkien to write both The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. \nNow\, we are fortunate to embark on a comprehensive journey through the Lord of the Rings series with Dan\, who will provide his best and longest reading to date. Each Wednesday at 3:30 PM\, we invite everyone to pause their activities\, grab a snack and a beverage\, and listen to one of the greatest fantasy series ever written. We hope everyone enjoys this opportunity to relax and participate in the Berkshire Talking Chronicle’s fantasy story hour\, one of the many programs offered by BTC for our listeners. \nThe mission of WRRS 104.3 LPFM is to create an engaging radio experience that fosters inclusion for the sight and print impaired. Since our establishment in 1984 and first live broadcast in 1986\, we have proudly served as a vital part of this community. Located in Pittsfield at the Clock Tower Business Center\, Suite 201\, 75 South Church Street\, we invite you to join us in our commitment to providing accessible and inspiring programming that enhances lives.

But then the magic of the poem comes to life\, and Isabella and her father are unexpectedly separated by a snowstorm that sends them on a fantastical journey. In a winter wonderland inspired by the poem\, they discover whimsical characters\, acrobats\, children and reindeer who reunite father and daughter in the holiday spirit. \nTickets start at $44.

DESCRIPTION:WRRS 104.3 LPFM is excited to announce a fantastic new family event in collaboration with Barnes and Noble in Pittsfield to celebrate Halloween. \nJoin us on Sunday\, October 27th from 2 – 4 pm for an unforgettable Halloween extravaganza! Immerse yourself in two hours of spine-tingling Halloween stories\, join our store-wide trick-or-treating adventure\, and dive into a captivating selection of Halloween books. \nBut wait\, there’s more! Prepare for an extra special treat as the Berkshire’s very own children’s author Becky Cushing Gop will also be here to delight us with a reading of her book “What Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond.” Don’t miss out on this enchanting event! \nWhat Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond? takes kids ages 8 to 10 on a journey through a year in the life of a young beaver (called a “kit”). This is an exciting year as the young beaver leaves her family lodge and moves throughout the Yokun Brook waterways\, seeking a new home for herself. Throughout the seasons\, vibrant illustrations and descriptions reveal the hidden inner workings of a beaver lodge\, how beavers fell trees with their teeth and create a wetland habitat\, how they collect food and ward off predators\, and what daily life is like within a beaver colony. Author Becky Cushing Gop is an environmental educator and director of Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary where the story takes place. Nature illustrator Carrie Shryock’s lively and charming graphics bring the young beaver’s story to life for nature-curious kids. \nIf you have a special Halloween book you’d like to share\, step up and read it aloud for everyone. All the stories read will be recorded for a special broadcast on the afternoon of Halloween on WRRS 104.3 LPFM. \nDon’t forget to dress up in your best costume for a chance to win an exciting raffle prize! \nBring your pals and enjoy the fun. SUMMARY:Rise Up: A Journey to Trauma Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Helix Human Services presents their first resource symposium: Rise Up: A Journey to Trauma Recovery. \nOver the years research has proven that exposure trauma i.e. to abuse\, neglect\, discrimination\, violence\, and other adverse experiences increases a person’s lifelong potential for serious health problems and engaging in health-risk behaviors.  \nAs health care providers grow aware of trauma’s impact\, they are realizing the value of trauma-informed approaches to care. Trauma-informed care acknowledges the need to understand a person’s life experiences to deliver effective care and has the potential to improve the person’s engagement\, treatment adherence\, health outcomes\, and caregivers’ wellness.  \nThe conference targets educators\, social workers\, mentors\, and caregivers for children and families\, alongside anyone dedicated to enhancing the welfare of vulnerable populations within their communities. The primary objective of this conference is to educate participants on trauma and trauma-informed care\, equipping them with strategies for personal application as caregivers\, as well as methods for implementing trauma-informed care in support of at-risk children and families. The conference will feature 3 keynote speakers with several breakout sessions run by professionals in the field (CEUs will be offered). \nTickets can be purchased here
