These leaders\, innovators\, and collaborators have devoted their careers to improving the quality of individual lives and the health of entire communities. \nSince its inception\, Healthcare Heroes has more than succeeded in its quest to identify truly inspirational people and organizations — not to mention compelling stories — within this sector. There has been no shortage of fascinating stories to tell and individuals and groups to honor. \nThe eighth annual Healthcare Heroes program is presented by Baystate Health & Health New England and sponsored by Trinity Health Of New England/Mercy Medical Center. \nThe event will take place on Thursday\, October 17 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. \nTickets cost $95 per person\, and tables of 10 are available. DESCRIPTION:WRRS 104.3 LPFM is excited to announce a fantastic new family event in collaboration with Barnes and Noble in Pittsfield to celebrate Halloween. \nJoin us on Sunday\, October 27th from 2 – 4 pm for an unforgettable Halloween extravaganza! Immerse yourself in two hours of spine-tingling Halloween stories\, join our store-wide trick-or-treating adventure\, and dive into a captivating selection of Halloween books. \nBut wait\, there’s more! Prepare for an extra special treat as the Berkshire’s very own children’s author Becky Cushing Gop will also be here to delight us with a reading of her book “What Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond.” Don’t miss out on this enchanting event! \n​What Goes on Inside a Beaver Pond? takes kids ages 8 to 10 on a journey through a year in the life of a young beaver (called a “kit”). This is an exciting year as the young beaver leaves her family lodge and moves throughout the Yokun Brook waterways\, seeking a new home for herself. Throughout the seasons\, vibrant illustrations and descriptions reveal the hidden inner workings of a beaver lodge\, how beavers fell trees with their teeth and create a wetland habitat\, how they collect food and ward off predators\, and what daily life is like within a beaver colony. Author Becky Cushing Gop is an environmental educator and director of Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary where the story takes place. Nature illustrator Carrie Shryock’s lively and charming graphics bring the young beaver’s story to life for nature-curious kids. \nIf you have a special Halloween book you’d like to share\, step up and read it aloud for everyone. All the stories read will be recorded for a special broadcast on the afternoon of Halloween on WRRS 104.3 LPFM. \nDon’t forget to dress up in your best costume for a chance to win an exciting raffle prize! \nBring your pals and enjoy the fun.
