WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Link to Libraries (LTL) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with volunteers ranging from 5 to 83 years of age. LTL distributes new books to underserved children through schools and nonprofit organizations. Many of these children have never previously owned a book, and by helping them to create their own home libraries, Link to Libraries fosters a love of reading and learning, increasing their chances for success in school and in life. Since its formation, Link to Libraries has donated more than 500,000 books, placed 164
classroom readers in underserved schools, and now has 60 schools and nonprofit organizations sponsored under the LTL Business Book Link Program. Link to Libraries’ Youth Advisory Board members label more than 2,000 books per month and act as student representatives for the organization.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTIES
Link to Libraries has a wide range of opportunities for volunteers young and old to participate in daily, weekly, and monthly throughout the year. To name just a few, volunteers read aloud
in classrooms, label books, and represent Link to Libraries at local events. Volunteers also assemble more than 5,000 literacy book bags for the LTL Welcome to Kindergarten program, ensuring that all children in Chicopee, Holyoke, and Springfield begin Kindergarten with a Link to Libraries literacy bookbag including two books, a bookmark, and parent educational materials developed by the Davis Foundation. Volunteer opportunities are ongoing, and LTL is open to the imagination of volunteers for ideas on giving and involvement.
