 Winning Shot
American International College (AIC) senior Kelly Shea recently took first place in the sports category of the 2020 College Pictures of the Year photog- raphy contest sponsored by the Boston Press Photographers Assoc. Entries were accepted from New England schools as well as from New England students attending out-of-area schools. Shea’s win- ning photo (pictured) features an overhead shot from the rafters at a Hartford Wolf Pack game against the Providence Bruins. “I selected five pho- tos and wasn’t going to submit that one, deciding last minute to add it,” Shea said. “And it won!”
   Creature Comforts
The Most Rev. William Byrne, bishop of
the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, recently made an appearance at Mercy Medical Center accompanied by Zélie, his 3-year-old black Labrador retriever, to greet staff members at the hospital. Mercy col- leagues welcomed the opportunity to take time out of their day to spend a few minutes with the comfort dog — and she enjoyed the attention, too. Together Again
With all 150 residents at Glenmeadow, an assisted-living community
in Longmeadow, along with the majority of staff, having received two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, family and friends are visiting again, meals in the dining rooms have resumed, and residents are once again taking part in life-enrichment programs in person. Glenmeadow has introduced many new programs this spring, from horticulture classes to holistic-health discussions, in addition to traditional offerings like bowling, charades, sing-alongs, knitting, exercise programs, and art classes (pictured).
