WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
The YMCA is a cause-driven organization focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. A strong community can be achieved only when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. The YMCA of Greater Springfield has been serving our community for 165 years. Each year, the Y raises funds through its annual campaign to ensure that none of our more than 10,000 members or 12,000 program participants are turned away due to an inability to pay for programs and services.
The campaign is crucial to guaranteeing that the doors at the
YMCA are always open for everyone. The YMCA provides wellness and educational opportunities for people from infancy through retirement and is the largest provider of licensed afterschool programming in the area. Whether you are interested in a swim lesson for your toddler, a yoga class to relax, or a program to keep your teen on the path to graduation, the YMCA can help. The YMCA cause is all about strengthening communities through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
We need a place that can make us feel whole — a place where common ground is plenty, differences are assets, and opportunity is for all. The YMCA is that place. We have an annual giving campaign that is active throughout the year. The campaign provides support for vital services to help improve the lives of those in our community, such as opportunities for kids to attend camp or play a sport, or assistance for those dealing with cancer or diabetes. Donations can be sent to the YMCA or made through our website at www.springfieldy.org. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have a number of volunteer opportunities available to those who are interested in giving back:
• Reading to youth;
• Painting and landscaping projects; • Fund-raising assistance; and
• Coaching youth sports.
