food and personal-care pantry; food recovery and fresh-produce distribution; monthly mobile food program; special food distribution for seniors; a community (free) store; a walk-in health clinic (twice a week); weekly job-search assistance; assistance with public benefits
(health insurance, SNAP, housing c•aWsest mBraancnhaisga eFeme-Oennlyt); monthly
clothing-repair workshops; monthly live music performances and
field trips; and weekly movies. A small staff (11 people) and 230+ volunteers a week help create and deliver all services. All are
welcome to come to the center and participate in services.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
The Amherst Survival Center relies on and greatly appreciates donations of goods (food, clothing, household items, personal-care
items), time (volunteers), and funds. Donations of goods can be
brought directly to the Amherst Survival Center during our business hours. We gratefully accept financial and in-kind contributions from
(no commissions) investment
management and financial planning firm.
• As a Fiduciary we have the duty
individuals and businesses, and contributions support our general operating needs or can be directed to specific programs. We try to make a variety of opportunities available for financial donors, including our Gift Catalog, monthly Sustainers Circle, fund-raising events, and event sponsorship. Donations accepted online at www.amherstsurvival.org/donate.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Amherst Survival Center’s dedicated volunteers play an integral role in our success. Our 230 weekly volunteers help us deliver all services. They perform important tasks that enable the center to meet its mission: prepare and serve meals; pick up, organize, and distribute food donations from area businesses and farms; sort and stock donated clothing and household goods for our store; organize and distribute food in our Food Pantry; greet people and familiarize newcomers with the center; unload food deliveries; and deliver medical care in our walk-in health clinic. We also have opportunities for groups and occasional volunteering.
