WHO WE ARE AND
WHAT WE DO
Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system serving more than 800,000 people throughout Western New England with more than 12,000 employees, including 850
physicians. With roots dating to the founding of Springfield City Hospital in 1873, Baystate Health has been providing high-quality and compassionate healthcare in the Pioneer Valley for more than 140 years. From cutting-edge treatments to state-of-the-art technology to new medical and surgical facilities, Baystate Health remains committed to investing in compassionate, local care for everyone we serve in our hospitals, medical practices, and in homes by our visiting nurses and hospice teams.
In this ever-changing landscape of healthcare, philanthropy plays a pivotal role at Baystate Health. Your gift to Baystate Health Foundation enables us to bring new advances faster, and
to deliver services that would not exist without your generosity.
This past year, our donors’ generosity helped fund many programs, projects, and equipment purchases, including:
• Patient-care needs at all of our community hospitals;
• Cancer research;
• Education programs for physicians and care teams;
• Webcam monitors in bassinets for the Davis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit;
• Renovation of the Oncology unit at Baystate Mary Lane and Emergency Department at Baystate Wing Hospital;
• Specialized pediatric-surgery equipment;
• Programs and training for medical residents; • Expansion of the Pediatric Procedures &
Infusion Unit at Baystate Children’s Hospital; and • Scholarships for nurses.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Whether you support our efforts through a gift to our Annual Fund, through a
capital campaign, or as a gift of gratitude
in recognition of exceptional care received, you are investing in a higher level of care for our community. By making Baystate Health Foundation your charity of choice, your gift is able to support Baystate Health hospitals, programs, and services, including:
• Baystate Medical Center; the region’s only teaching hospital with the University of
Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate and Level 1 Trauma Center;
• Baystate Children’s Hospital; the region’s only full-service, comprehensive children’s hospital;
• Three community hospitals: Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Baystate Noble Hospital, and Baystate Wing Hospital;
• A network of more than 80 primary-care, specialty medical practices and outpatient centers;
• Home care and hospice;
• Baystate Regional Cancer Program;
• Baystate Heart & Vascular Program; and • Baystate Neurosciences Program
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Throughout the year, Baystate Health Foundation hosts many fund-raising events with support from community volunteers. Whether answering phones during the 94.7 WMAS Radiothon for Baystate Children’s Hospital or checking in registered participants at the Rays of Hope Walk & Run Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer, many volunteer roles are available.
