MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the
Healing Racism Institute
(HRI) is to build racism-free communities, organizations, and institutions. It is guided
by a diverse group of individuals who believe that facilitating a sustained process of understanding the root causes and impact of racism can serve as a catalyst to overcome the historic and ongoing impact of racism on our society.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
The Healing Racism Institute is committed to assisting individuals and institutions with becoming anti-racist. It is not enough to not be racist; the process promotes anti-racism. The difference is not subtle. Our work provides a space where individuals can examine their bias and begin to heal. It’s an authentic dialogue, learning, and a process to recognize the wounds caused by systemic and internalized racism. While
it is a community conversation, the intention is to speak to the heart and mind of the individual. It introduces citizens to the idea of oneness and interconnectedness, and that race is a construct — that there is only one human race. The evolution of our work includes strategies to embed ourselves in institutions and organizations working to become anti-racist.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
The Healing Racism Institute kicked off a capital campaign to build and sustain the organization’s infrastructure, including a bench of trained facilitators to engage a greater number of communities, organizations, and institutions. As of today, HRI has raised $948,000 of our $1 million goal. We are grateful for any giving that helps us reach our goal and beyond.
