Catholic Women in the United States: Values and Vision

| Elms College will hold the inaugural Rev. Hugh Crean Annual Distinguished Lecture at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in Veritas Auditorium. A reception will follow.
This year’s featured speaker will be Springfield, MA, native Sr. Mary Johnson, SNDdeN, Ph.D., whose talk will be titled “Catholic Women in the United States: Values and Vision.” Johnson is a distinguished professor of sociology and religious studies at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Emmanuel College. This lecture series honors the legacy of Fr. Crean, who passed away in 2015. He was a pastor, professor, theologian and advisor who devoted his life to the pastoral care and education of thousands of Catholics in the Diocese of Springfield.
