Meyers Brothers Kalicka, PeoplesBank Support A Bed for Every Child

HOLYOKE — For the fourth year, Meyers Brothers Kalicka, P.C. (MBK) partnered with A Bed for Every Child, based out of Lynn. Unlike previous years, PeoplesBank joined the initiative and co-hosted the event with MBK.

Spearheaded by Chelsea Russell from MBK and Thomas Borek from PeoplesBank, the businesses were paired together for a collaborative build and networking event. Collectively as a group, the two businesses pledged to build 20 beds for children in Western Mass. Throughout the event, teams worked side by side building beds from scratch, which encouraged communication, creativity, and problem solving, while also providing opportunities to learn more about one another’s businesses and services.

“So many children go without beds, and having the ability to build and provide a child with a bed is giving them a place to dream,” Russell said. “By participating together, MBK and PeoplesBank combined their efforts to build beds for local families.”

Added Borek, “it’s always rewarding to partner with another business that shares the same commitment to giving back. Seeing our teams work side by side is a great reminder of what can happen when businesses come together to support our community and the real impact it can have on the families that live here in it.”

Freedom Credit Union Urges Support for Bed Program

SPRINGFIELD — Freedom Credit Union is again inviting the community to support A Bed for Every Child by making cash donations at any of its branches throughout May. Donations will help provide beds to children in Massachusetts who do not have a bed of their own.

“Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep,” said Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch. “We’re proud to support A Bed for Every Child and invite our members and the community to join us in helping make a meaningful difference for children and families.”

A Bed for Every Child partners with schools, health care providers and community organizations to identify children in need and engage volunteers through its Build a Bed Project. As many families continue to face financial strain, essential household items such as beds can remain out of reach. The organization works to ensure more children have this basic necessity and the comfort that comes with it.

Freedom Credit Union’s support of A Bed for Every Child is part of its ongoing Month of Giving campaign, which raises donations for charitable organizations serving local communities. Funds collected through May 30 will support this effort and help provide beds for children who need them.

SPRINGFIELD — During May, Freedom Credit Union is inviting the community to donate money at any of its branches throughout Western Mass. to benefit A Bed for Every Child.

The Lynn-based organization builds and donates beds for children who lack proper sleeping arrangements. 

“Every child deserves a comfortable place where big dreams can happen,” said Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch. “We’re excited to support this effort because we know a good night’s sleep can boost focus, mental health and well-being.”

A Bed for Every Child teams up with community groups such as schools and healthcare agencies to identify needs and engage volunteers to participate in the Build a Bed Project. Statistics show that as housing expenses skyrocket, essentials like beds often get passed over. A Bed for Every Child strives to make sure Massachusetts children are not deprived of this basic necessity.

This donation is part of Freedom Credit Union’s ongoing effort to collect donations for a different charity each month as part of its Month of Giving campaign. This year, Freedom asked its members to nominate charities.
