Tony Ravosa Launches Effort to Bring Cadillac Dealership Back to Springfield
SPRINGFIELD — Sixteen years after the last local Cadillac dealership closed its doors, businessman Tony Ravosa is leading a community effort to bring the iconic American brand back.
Cadillac officially pulled out of the area on Dec. 10, 2009, marking the end of an era. Ravosa, who grew up riding in Cadillacs and drives one to this day, believes the time has come to restore that legacy.
To commemorate the anniversary and spark public support, he is launching a digital billboard campaign on a mobile Stand Out Truck that will be driving around all day today, Dec. 10.
From 9 to 9:30 a.m., the truck will be outside WWLP 22 News before moving to WGGB 40 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. It will be stationed outside the Republican from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and then end the day outside the MassMutual Center for the UMass Amherst vs. Boston College game in the Hall of Fame Classic from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.
Ravosa hopes the visibility will help rally the community behind the idea.
“Cadillac is more than a car; it’s an American tradition,” he said. “My father drove one. I drive one. Springfield has a Basketball Hall of Fame, a world-class museum, and a legacy of innovation. A city with this much history and heart deserves a Cadillac dealership again.”
Ravosa’s push has already begun gaining traction among residents who want to see another dealership return to the region. He hopes the billboard effort inspires more community backing from fellow Cadillac lovers.
