SPRINGFIELD — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the official launch of its newly redesigned website, alongside the debut of its new institutional brand tagline: “Greatness Lives Inside.” Serving as the ultimate destination for basketball fans worldwide, these two initiatives mark the evolution of how the Hall of Fame connects with fans, celebrates the game, and continues to inspire future generations.

Anchoring this evolution, the new tagline reflects the sentiments of the hall’s mission and inspires the greatness that lives inside every fan, player, and coach, said John Doleva, president and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. It’s a mindset, a message, and a mantra that reinforces Dr. James Naismith’s mission for the game — reminding basketball fans that the greatness of this game isn’t reserved for the elite; it grows in every driveway, classroom, gym, and community. The hall of fame becomes the place where that inner greatness is encouraged, honored, and shared.

“Our new digital experience and brand message reflect the belief that basketball is not just about what happens on the court, but what it unlocks within each of us,” said Doleva. “The goal was to create a digital home that is an extension of the Hall of Fame itself. It isn’t just a database; it’s a living, breathing celebration of the game that continues to evolve to represent growth of basketball itself.”

Designed by the Hartford-based GO Agency, the website is a platform made for both casual fans and devoted historians in mind. The site features a streamlined user interface, enhanced hall of fame multimedia archives, and museum exhibit pages, bringing the hall of fame experience directly to the screens of basketball fans everywhere. Key features include:

  • Enhanced Inductee Profiles: Deep dives into the lives and careers of hall of famers, featuring enshrinement speech video highlights and career statistics;
  • Exhibit Exploration Pages: Experience a sneak peek at the latest museum exhibit additions through featured artifacts and storytelling that bridges the gap between the physical museum and the global fan base; and
  • Real-Time Museum & External Event Updates: The central hub for all Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame events, including regular seasonal programming, Enshrinement Weekend, and upcoming collegiate and high school national basketball competitions.

SPRINGFIELD — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the recipient of the 2026 John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award: Leah Wilcox, vice president, Commissioner’s Office liaison, and former vice president of Player and Talent Relations at the NBA.

The Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award was instituted by the Basketball Hall of Fame’s board of trustees in 1973 and is the most prestigious award presented by the Hall of Fame outside of enshrinement. Named in honor of Hall of Famer John W. Bunn (class of 1964), the first chairman of the Basketball Hall of Fame committee, who served from 1949 to 1964, the award honors coaches, players, and contributors whose outstanding accomplishments have impacted the high school, college, professional, and/or international game.

Wilcox and the recipients of the 2026 Curt Gowdy Media Awards will be recognized during the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend at the Gala and Awards Celebration on Friday, August 14 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno sent a letter on Feb. 25 to Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame officials to formally express his disappointment on learning of secret discussions by Hall of Fame officials to relocate a major Springfield event to Boston: the annual Hoophall Classic basketball tournaments.

In Sarno’s letter to Basketball Hall of Fame President and CEO John Doleva, he claims these secret discussions were intended to intentionally leave Springfield and Western Mass. out of the conversation about an action that would have a significant negative impact upon the local region.

Sarno detailed the ability of Greater Springfield to meet the tournament’s needs for hotel rooms and gym space (mainly at public schools, colleges, and community centers). “There is also the Big E Fairgrounds, where the annual Hooplandia event is held, and various other locations in the Greater Springfield area that could accommodate the increasing numbers of the Hoophall Classic, thus keeping this wonderful event and all the positive economic spinoff it creates here in the Greater Springfield area,” he added.

SPRINGFIELD — Hooplandia was in full swing over the weekend, with more ballers than ever filling its courts with 3-on-3 basketball action. Bulkley Richardson sponsors the annual Hooplandia Leadership Award during the tournament, and this year’s recipient is John Doleva, president and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. Mark Cress of Bulkley Richardson presented Doleva with this honor at a midday reception on June 21.

Bulkley Richardson is a law firm that has been in practice for more than a century, providing legal services to local and national clients. It pledges to serve as both industry and community leaders, encouraging and upholding excellent moral standards and fairness.

It is in this spirit that Bulkley Richardson, in partnership with Hooplandia producer and host site Eastern States Exposition (ESE), created the Leadership Award, which is presented each year to a deserving person, group, or organization within the community that exhibits the qualities of good leadership: bravery, respect, positive attitude, integrity, and fair play — leader-like behavior that builds team morale and makes a lasting impact on local communities.

“Bulkley Richardson is pleased to sponsor Hooplandia again this year and honored to be a part of this great community event,” said Jennifer Jacque, head of Marketing and Business Development at Bulkley Richardson. “When we work and play together with integrity, fairness, and a positive attitude, anything is possible. Teammates and opponents can come together, complement one another, and build a stronger community as a result.”

ESE President and CEO Gene Cassidy added that “regional residents take the Basketball Hall of Fame’s proximity for granted at times. People travel from all over the world to visit Western Mass. in awe of what we see every day. John Doleva does an amazing job leading and building the Hall’s globally recognized shrine. He is a champion of the sport and the city of Springfield.”
