Valley Blue Sox Open Season at Mackenzie Stadium on June 3
HOLYOKE — The New England Collegiate Baseball League’s (NECBL) Valley Blue Sox open up their 2025 season on Tuesday, June 3 at Mackenzie Stadium, when they host the Newport Gulls. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
The team will give away 200 magnetic schedules to fans who attend opening day. Tickets cost $7 per person and $99 for season tickets. Gates open one hour before game time. Concessions and refreshments will be available at the start of the game.
The Blue Sox are excited for newly acquired head coach Endy Morales to make his coaching debut for Holyoke. Morales was a part of both of the team’s championship teams as a pitcher in 2017 and 2018.
The Holyoke-based team retains six players from last season, while adding 32 new players. The returning players include all-star third baseman Mike O’Conor, all-star pitcher Gregory Shaw, and pitchers Conor Wolf, Andrew Wertz, Jack Niedringhaus, and Christopher Torres.
Valley and Newport squared off in the 2024 NECBL playoffs, where the Gulls completed a sweep of the Blue Sox. The Blue Sox have not hosted a home opening day game since the 2021 season, where they fell to the Gulls 7-2.
The Blue Sox have the third-largest seating capacity in the league at 4,100.
