Kevin Sylvester

LUDLOW — Pioneer Valley Financial Group announced that Kevin Sylvester earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, becoming the firm’s second CFP professional.

Sylvester joined the PV team in 2019 and has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to professional growth and client service. His dedication to advancing his knowledge and expertise reflects both his personal drive and PV’s culture of continuous development.

“The cornerstone of PV Financial Group is our continued support of professional development for our team,” Managing Partner and Wealth Advisor Ed Sokolowski said. “Kevin has shown that commitment since the day he started, and our clients are better for it.”

Before entering the financial services industry, Sylvester made a career change in 2011 and returned to school while balancing the demands of work and family. He attended UMass Amherst, graduating in 2018 with a degree in mathematics and a concentration in actuarial science. Shortly after, he began his career in wealth management, where he discovered a passion for helping clients achieve long-term financial success.

Sylvester continued to build on his expertise by earning both his Accredited Investment Fiduciary and Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor designations, further strengthening his ability to serve clients with integrity and insight.

The CFP certification is one of the most respected credentials in the financial planning industry. To earn the designation, candidates must complete rigorous education requirements, pass a comprehensive six-hour examination, gain relevant professional experience, and commit to upholding strict ethical standards. Sylvester’s achievement marks an important milestone for both his career and Pioneer Valley Financial Group’s ongoing commitment to excellence.

LUDLOW — Pioneer Valley Financial Group (PV Financial) has partnered with Rachel’s Table of Western Massachusetts, donating $10,000 in support of the organization’s mission to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste throughout the region.

Rachel’s Table works to address food insecurity by rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to those in need, while also offering programs that educate and empower the community. Through food rescue, gleaning initiatives, gardening, and cooking education, the organization helps individuals and families build skills, resilience, and access to nutritious food.

“Support like this helps ensure our neighbors can grow food, build resilience, and nourish their communities for years to come,” said Jodi Falk, executive director of Rachel’s Table.

LUDLOW — Pioneer Valley Financial Group (PV Financial) announced a partnership with Baystate Health in recognition of the care provided by the Davis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff. PV Financial was inspired to collaborate with the Baystate Health Foundation after Andrea Lebeau, a member of the PV Financial team, experienced an emergency early delivery of her daughter, Blake, who required a 102-day stay in Baystate Health’s NICU.

Since her arrival in late November, Blake has received round-the-clock care. Lebeau and her husband, Shawn, are deeply grateful not only for the support extended to their family, but also for the care given to countless others relying on the Davis NICU. Inspired by this experience, PV Financial felt compelled to give back in a way that would directly benefit the Davis NICU and its families.

Through ongoing discussions with the Baystate Health Foundation, PV Financial has made a $5,000 donation to support the Davis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. PV Financial staff also volunteered at the Baystate Health Foundation’s annual radiothon, held in partnership with WMAS 94.7. PV volunteers manned the phones during the radiothon, helping to collect donations that will directly support the work being done at Baystate Children’s Hospital. During the event, Lebeau shared her personal journey in a moving interview with the Kellogg Krew, giving the community a glimpse into the life-changing care families receive daily in the NICU.

Looking ahead, PV Financial will continue its support of Baystate Health through participation in the Baystate Children’s Hospital’s 33rd annual golf tournament this June. As part of their contribution, PV Financial will donate a pair of Red Sox-Yankees tickets for the live auction during the event. All funds raised from the tournament will go toward advancing pediatric health research, purchasing child-sized equipment, and enhancing the experiences of children receiving care at Baystate Children’s Hospital.

LUDLOW — Pioneer Valley Financial Group (PV Financial) announced that Meghan Monaghan has successfully passed her Series 66 financial exam, officially earning her the title of financial advisor.

Monaghan began her journey with PV Financial in the summer of 2022 as a finance intern, where she was responsible for preparing investment proposals, reports for the Operations department, and data entry. In December 2022, she graduated from Bentley University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, concentrating in financial planning, and a minor in business management.

Upon graduation, she was welcomed back to PV as a full-time client relationship manager. In this role, she worked alongside the firm’s advisors to build relationships and provide exceptional customer service to clients. She embarked on her journey of studying and taking securities-industry exams, eventually transitioning to the role of paraplanner earlier in 2024, focusing more on the in-depth planning aspects of financial services.

After two years of hard work and successfully passing five exams, Monaghan earned the title of financial advisor, making her the only female financial advisor at PV. However, her journey doesn’t stop there. She has begun her advisor training, sitting in on client meetings, reviewing financial strategies, and preparing for the certified financial planner (CFP) exam, which will all prepare her to provide the comprehensive, relationship-focused approach to financial planning that PV Financial aims to deliver.

“Meghan’s growth from a high-performing university student to someone who has transitioned that knowledge into the workforce has been amazing to watch,” said Ed Sokolowski, managing partner at PV Financial Group. “I’m looking forward to her next level of growth that will benefit PV’s clients for years to come. Pioneer Valley Financial Group is proud to have Meghan as part of our team.”

LUDLOW — The novel coronavirus has sparked a public-health emergency that has required frontline workers like doctors and nurses, first responders, and pharmacists to work tirelessly to keep the public safe. With this in mind, Ludlow-based Pioneer Valley Financial Group and Mill’s Tavern & Grille formed a partnership to cook and deliver food to the frontline workers who need the community’s support the most.

Starting on April 10, each week, PV Financial donated $350 to Mill’s Tavern to help pay for the cost of food and delivery, while also relying upon donations from the community through a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $2,280.

“This is my way of giving back to those frontline workers who are sacrificing and contributing so much to keep us safe during these tough times,” said Paul Marques, owner of Mill’s Tavern & Grille.

Donations to the GoFundMe campaign have allowed Mill’s Tavern and PV Financial to deliver more than 400 meals to hospitals, police and fire departments, and pharmacies all across Western Mass. These locations include the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, Baystate Mary Lane in Ware, and CVS Pharmacy in Ludlow.

“Delivering to local doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and National Guard members working diligently during these uncertain times means more than just providing free meals,” PV Financial Managing Partner Edward Sokolowski said. “It’s a show of support to members of our community fighting an unspeakable tragedy, putting themselves at risk to keep others safe.”
