Registration Open for Lúnasa Feis Irish Dance Competition on Aug. 23
WEST SPRINGFIELD — The Irish Cultural Center of Western New England will present its seventh annual Lúnasa Feis on Sunday, Aug. 23. The Irish dance competition will take place in the Young Building at the Eastern States Exposition, 875 Memorial Ave., West Springfield.
Registration is currently open at feisweb.com. Dancers are encouraged to register before Aug. 15 to avoid late fees. Visit www.lunasafeis.org for more information and guidelines for competitors.
This is the only feis in Western Mass., hosting more than 500 Irish dancers from across New England and beyond competing on multiple stages. Concessions will be available on site, as well as several vendors of Celtic and Irish dance-related products. A monitored room for dress sales will also be available.
Lúnasa Feis features individual open groups and skill levels, four-hand and eight-hand céilí competitions, a second-chance preliminary championship competition, and adult champ comps. Bakers can enter an Irish soda bread competition at the feis. New events this year are an Irish art contest and a freestyle contest.
Lúnasa Feis is presented and managed by the Irish Cultural Center along with the Cassin Academy of Irish Dance and the Black Rose Academy of Irish Dance.
Presenting sponsors include Westfield Bank, U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, and the Irish Cultural Center. Dance stage sponsors include the Log Cabin/Delaney Hospitality Group and Kathleen Doe Creative Design.
