Springfield Cultural Partnership Invites Community to Celebrate 10 Years
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Cultural Partnership (SCP) invites the community to celebrate its 10th anniversary and experience Sounds of Springfield, Springfield’s newest permanent, interactive public art installation, during a free community celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 4 and 8 p.m. at Tower Square Park.
The celebration will feature community remarks, interactive sound sculpture experiences, family-friendly arts activities, and live performances throughout the evening.
The Sounds of Springfield installation features six sculptural outdoor musical instruments that invite people of all ages to create music, experiment with sound, and experience public art through hands-on participation. Designed for year-round outdoor use, the instruments are part of a sculptural ensemble manufactured by FreeNotes Harmony Park.
“As Springfield Cultural Partnership celebrates its 10th anniversary, Sounds of Springfield reflects the kind of community-centered work we believe in most. Public art is most meaningful
when it invites participation,” said Karen Finn, executive director of Springfield Cultural Partnership. “The arts have the power to bring people together across backgrounds and generations. Sounds of Springfield transforms a shared public space into a place where everyone is invited to create, connect, and belong.”
As a permanent addition to Tower Square Park, Sounds of Springfield demonstrates how arts and culture can activate public spaces, strengthen downtown, and create new opportunities for community connection.
Throughout the evening on Aug. 5, visitors will enjoy interactive sound sculpture experiences, community music making, arts activities, and performances led by Community Music School of Springfield, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and Hope Center for the Arts. The celebration concludes with a live performance by Orquesta Salsa Brava. The evening is hosted in partnership with White Lion Brewing’s Pridelands.
